Theme: World Red Cross Day

Thought: It is the duty of every human to serve humanity and we must always do so to extend our contribution to the Red Cross.

Speech: World Red Cross Day also known as Red Crescent Day is celebrated on May 8 every year. This date marks the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, who is the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). He is also the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. He was born on May 8, 1828.

It is an annual celebration of their principles. The day is celebrated by the Red Cross society across all the countries. It works for the welfare of people. World Red Cross Society provides for food shortages, natural disasters, wars as well as diseases and epidemics. The theme of World Red Cross Day 2022 is ‘Be Humankind’.

Acts of kindness are all around us. No matter how big or small, they make a huge difference in people’s lives. On this World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, we celebrate all types of acts of kindness and show how, together, they have a truly global impact.

  • In view of the formation of a severe cyclonic storm Asani on Monday, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are bracing up for the cyclone as the India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in these states. Cyclone Asani is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm.
